Iranian spy chief accuses US and Israel of plotting to assassinate Khamenei – media — RT World News

Iran’s intelligence minister, Esmail Khatib, has claimed that foreign adversaries—specifically the United States and Israel—are plotting to kill Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Speaking to the ISNA news agency, Khatib said the “enemy seeks to target the supreme leader, sometimes with assassination attempts, sometimes with hostile attacks.” He warned that anyone who assists these efforts, whether knowingly or unknowingly, is considered an “infiltrating agent of the enemy.”

Khatib’s remarks follow a 12‑day conflict between Israel and Iran in June that claimed the lives of several senior Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists. He suggested that the United States and Israel aim to destabilize Iran by targeting its highest authority. The minister also accused Israel of suffering an “epidemic of infiltration and espionage” within its own institutions, pointing to the recent arrest of an Israeli Air Force officer alleged to have spied for Tehran.

According to Khatib, Iran has obtained secret nuclear information and other sensitive security documents. He argued that, combined with Iran’s firm posture during the recent war, these developments signal shifting regional power dynamics. The intelligence breach and Iran’s response to the 12‑day conflict carry significant implications for the balance of power in the region.

The alleged plot to kill Khamenei comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June, aiming to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. The United States supported those strikes, and former President Donald Trump later described Khamenei as a “very easy target,” though he said Washington would not “take him out, at least not for now.”

Khamenei, 86, has been Iran’s supreme leader since 1989 and holds final authority over all state affairs. The reported assassination plot underscores the ongoing tensions among Iran, the United States and Israel, with serious ramifications for regional stability and security. As the situation unfolds, the international community will be watching closely for any further developments or escalation.
