The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has voiced confidence that it can thwart any electoral manipulation by the ruling government. Party National Secretary Rauf Aregbesola said the ADC is fully aware of the tactics that might be used to influence the outcome of the upcoming elections. He made these remarks while unveiling the ADC in Osogbo, an event that coincided with the 15th anniversary of his administration’s assumption of office in the state. Aregbesola described the occasion as symbolic, underscoring the party’s commitment to tackling Nigeria’s challenges—insecurity, maladministration, poverty, hunger and poor governance.
Aregbesola emphasized that the ADC offers a viable alternative to the current government, citing its achievements and legacies from its previous tenure in Osun State. He noted that the party’s reputation and resonance with the people of Osun remain strong, as reflected in the warm reception it consistently receives in the state, particularly in the capital, Osogbo. He also criticized the incumbent government for alleged shortcomings in the economy, security and governance, and expressed confidence that the ADC will win the next elections and assume the presidency by August of next year.
These comments come as Nigeria prepares for its forthcoming elections, with political parties and stakeholders intensifying campaigns and strategizing for advantage. The electoral process is expected to be closely monitored both locally and internationally, amid concerns about potential manipulation and the need for a free and fair vote. As the political landscape evolves, the ADC’s confidence in countering electoral interference and its commitment to addressing national challenges will be closely watched. The party’s ability to connect with the people of Osun State and its reputation for good governance will be crucial to its prospects in the upcoming elections.
