Bandits Abduct 7 Teenagers in FCT Community

A recent abduction incident has occurred in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, where a 16-year-old boy and six girls were taken from Gidan-Bijimi in Kawu ward, Bwari Area Council. The community shares a border with Marke village, near the Kaduna State border.

According to eyewitness accounts, armed bandits carrying AK-47 rifles invaded two houses in the community around 9:47 p.m., firing sporadically and abducting the victims. The attack caused chaos in the area, with some vigilantes attempting to confront the attackers but being overwhelmed by their superior firepower.

The abducted girls are reportedly between 17 and 23 years old. A resident of Kawu, Suleiman Shuaibu, confirmed the incident, stating that he received a call around 9:53 p.m. informing him of the invasion and abduction. Unfortunately, his cousin sister was among the victims.

The incident has forced some residents to flee their homes, and contact has yet to be established with the abductors. The community is still reeling from the attack, with many seeking safety and awaiting news about the abducted individuals.

The abduction is the latest in a series of security incidents in the region, highlighting concerns about safety and the need for increased security measures. The FCT and surrounding areas have experienced similar incidents in the past, with armed groups targeting communities and abducting individuals for ransom or other motives.

The authorities have not yet commented on the incident, but efforts are likely underway to locate the abducted individuals and apprehend those responsible. The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing security challenges in the region and the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between communities and law enforcement agencies. As the situation develops, more information is expected to emerge about the incident and the efforts to rescue the abducted individuals.
