'No Plateau LGA under bandits' control' - Gov Mutfwang

A group of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members from Plateau State’s 17 local government areas gathered in Jos on Monday, urging Governor Caleb Mutfwang to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The rally, held at the State Secretariat Junction, was attended by several PDP leaders, including Dung Tari, a former chairman of the party in Jos South Local Government Area.

Christopher Danjem, the leader of the group, said the call for the governor’s defection is in the best interest of the people of Plateau State. He explained that the decision was based on an analysis of the situation in the state and the country, praising Governor Mutfwang’s performance and governance style while noting that aligning with the federal government would attract more development projects to the state.

The group also cited the recent visit of Senator Remi Tinubu, the wife of President Bola Tinubu, to Plateau State as a gesture of goodwill toward the people. They believe that the governor’s defection to the APC would strengthen the state’s relationship with the federal government and bring additional benefits. Because the APC is the ruling party at the federal level, joining it could enable Governor Mutfwang to secure more federal funding and support for development projects in Plateau State.

The PDP, currently the main opposition party in Nigeria, is seeing this call for defection amid the state’s recovery from recent attacks. The group argues that moving to the APC would demonstrate the governor’s commitment to working with the federal government to bring peace and development to the state.

If Governor Mutfwang decides to defect, the development could have significant implications for the political landscape of Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole, potentially altering the balance of power in the state and affecting his ability to deliver on campaign promises. The outcome remains uncertain as the situation unfolds.
