Insecurity Meeting Long Overdue Says Shehu Sani

A high-level security summit convened by the Northern States Governors’ Forum is underway in Kaduna, Nigeria, to address the escalating insecurity in the region. The meeting, attended by governors and traditional rulers from the 19 northern states, aims to devise effective solutions to combat terrorism and restore peace in the affected communities.

The summit, hosted by Governor Uba Sani, comes in response to the recent surge in terrorist violence in the North. Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has welcomed the meeting, stating that it is long overdue. He urged the governors to develop coordinated and practical strategies to annihilate the criminals and bring peace back to the region.

The security situation in the North has been a major concern, with terrorist groups and bandits wreaking havoc in various communities. The governors and traditional rulers are expected to review recent developments and recommend long-term solutions to the crisis. Other key issues affecting regional development and governance are also on the agenda for discussion.

This summit follows the North-West Zonal Public Hearing of the Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on National Security, where northern leaders proposed a three-pillar approach to tackling insecurity. The meeting in Kaduna is seen as a crucial step towards finding a lasting solution to the region’s security challenges.

The presence of traditional rulers at the summit is significant, as they are often seen as influential figures in their communities. Their involvement in the discussion is expected to help in developing solutions that are tailored to the specific needs of each community.

As the summit continues, the focus will be on developing concrete plans to address the insecurity in the region. The outcome of the meeting is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of people living in the North, and its success will be closely monitored by citizens and observers alike.
