Turaki's PDP issues expulsion certificates to Wike, Anyanwu, Fayose, others

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a significant step against several of its prominent members by issuing certificates of expulsion, including that of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. This action follows the party’s earlier decision to expel Wike, former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu and eight others for engaging in anti‑party activities and litigation that undermined the party’s interests.

Speaking at the PDP headquarters in Abuja, Taminu Turaki said the expulsion certificates have been dispatched to the affected members via courier services. The expulsions represent a major development in the ongoing internal conflicts within the PDP, as the party seeks to restore discipline and cohesion.

In addition to the expulsions, the PDP has dissolved its structures in several states—Imo, Abia, Enugu, Akwa Ibom and Rivers—to address the disunity and infighting that have plagued the organization. Party leadership has emphasized the need for unity and discipline, accusing the expelled members of fostering disunity and engaging in activities detrimental to the party’s interests.

The move is expected to have significant implications for the PDP’s future and its ability to present a united front in upcoming elections. As the party moves forward, observers will watch how these expulsions affect its overall performance and reputation.
