Suspected herdsmen have renewed attacks in Benue – PDP alerts

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has issued an alert of renewed attacks by suspected herdsmen in Benue.

Isaac Mffo, the state acting chairman, raised the alarm at a media briefing in Makurdi, the capital.

Mffo complained that the fresh onslaught on rural communities resulted in the loss of lives, destruction of farms and displacement of people.

The politician said if not halted, the situation will worsen the problem of low voter turnout during the March 11 state elections.

“We call on the All Progressives Congress (APC) controlled Buhari regime to rise to its responsibility,” he urged.

The PDP called for the deployment of security agents to protect citizens “from the herdsmen who have terrorised the state for too long”.

Mffo, however, announced the decision of the PDP to challenge the outcome of the presidential and national assembly elections.

The chairman added that the conduct did not conform with provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended) in Sections 60 (5) and 148.
