Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has been the subject of rumors suggesting he will abandon the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In a statement obtained in Osogbo on Saturday, the PDP’s Caretaker Chairman, Dr. Akindele Adekunle, dismissed these claims as a “failed distraction agenda” allegedly spread by the All Progressives Congress (APC) on social media. The party urged Osun voters to turn out in large numbers on March 11 to support all PDP candidates in the state Assembly elections.

The statement emphasized that Governor Adeleke remains fully committed to the PDP, citing his recent successes in the presidential and National Assembly elections in the state. It added that the PDP aims to win all 26 Assembly seats on March 11, noting that the Osun APC is “badly decimated” and struggling to find its footing. “Governor Adeleke has, within 100 days, proven that good governance is possible, which explains the massive goodwill the PDP currently enjoys across the state,” the statement read. Voters were urged to ignore the rumors and “lies from the pit of hell,” reaffirming that Adeleke remains a PDP leader and governor.

In response, APC Acting Chairman Tajudeen Lawal issued a separate statement criticizing the PDP’s portrayal of Adeleke’s popularity. Lawal asserted that no responsible party would associate with the Osun governor and dismissed a story allegedly credited to President‑elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which mocked Osun APC leaders over previous election results, as a fabrication from the PDP’s “rumour mill.” He described the narrative as a “figment of the imagination” designed to confuse the public.

Lawal called on APC members to vote en masse in the upcoming House of Assembly elections, urging the PDP’s caretaker chairman, Dr. Akindele Adekunle, and his associates to cease spreading falsehoods in political campaigns against the APC.
