Ogun Leaders Urge Associations To Contribute To Nation’s Growth

The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, and Senator Shuaibu Afolabi Salisu, have emphasized the potential of associations, unions, and social clubs to contribute to national growth and development by engaging in the leadership recruitment process. This call to action was made during the investiture of the new executive of the Abeokuta Sports Club, led by Alhaji Taoheed Awodele as President, in Abeokuta.

According to Salako-Oyedele, the new leadership of the club should focus on achieving impact, progress, harmony, and exploring new possibilities. She highlighted the significance of the Abeokuta Sports Club as a hub where intellectuals and community members gather to exchange ideas, nurture camaraderie, and shape the social and civic landscape of Abeokuta. The club, she noted, is built on mutual respect, shared interests, and a tradition of excellence.

Senator Salisu urged the club and similar associations to participate in the leadership recruitment process, providing clarity on what is beneficial in both the short and long term. He emphasized their role as repositories of knowledge, assisting policymakers and providing input to shape policy and clarify issues. Salisu was inducted as Vice Patron of the club, along with other notable individuals.

The newly inaugurated President, Awodele, pledged to lead the club with integrity, transparency, and passion over the next two years. He outlined plans to upgrade the club’s infrastructure, including the construction of modern swimming pools, completion of a tennis house, and reconstruction of the 5-a-side soccer pitch and its gallery.

The involvement of associations and social clubs in the leadership recruitment process is seen as crucial for national development. By engaging in this process, these organizations can provide valuable insights and contribute to informed decision-making. As the Abeokuta Sports Club embarks on this new chapter under the leadership of President Awodele, its commitment to excellence and community development is expected to continue, with potential benefits extending beyond the club to the broader community.
