Rivers LG election a democratic scam, totally Illegal — Jake Epelle

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has been urged to concentrate on his ministerial duties and refrain from interfering in the affairs of Rivers State. Jake Epelle, founder of TAF Africa, made the appeal during an interview on Channels Television’s programme *The Morning Brief*.

Epelle’s comments come amid ongoing political tension in Rivers State, where Wike has been a dominant figure. He argued that “godfatherism” has no place in democracy and warned that Wike should not try to exert control over the state’s politics. “There is no godfatherism in democracy,” he said. “Wike is not the godfather of politics in Rivers State. He should focus on his ministerial position and leave Rivers State and its people alone.”

Emphasizing the resilience of the state’s citizens, Epelle asserted that the people of Rivers State will not be intimidated or controlled by any individual, including Wike. He predicted the emergence of a peaceful, resolute movement that would challenge Wike’s influence and uphold democratic values: “There is going to be a rising of people of peace, who are resolute, who are resilient, that will stand up and keep speaking truth to power.”

As the political situation in Rivers State continues to unfold, Epelle’s remarks highlight the need for Wike to prioritize his responsibilities as FCT Minister and respect the state’s autonomy. With national attention focused on Rivers State, it remains to be seen whether Wike will heed the call to concentrate on his ministerial role. The people of Rivers State watch anxiously, awaiting a resolution to the tensions and a return to stability.
