Former presidential adviser Hakeem Baba‑Ahmed has urged President Bola Tinubu to consider stepping down, citing the country’s unmet expectations and unfulfilled promises. In a recent appearance on Arise TV’s *Daybreak*, Baba‑Ahmed argued that the President’s two and a half years in office have fallen short of the outcomes and achievements that were anticipated.

According to Baba‑Ahmed, there is a stark gap between the government’s official claims and the daily realities faced by Nigerians. He criticized Tinubu’s handling of security, noting that the situation has not improved since President Buhari left office and, in fact, appears to have worsened under Tinubu’s leadership.

Baba‑Ahmed suggested that the President’s advanced age, long‑held ambition to become president, and perceived lack of new ideas or contributions may be reasons for him to consider relinquishing his position. He emphasized that if Tinubu truly prioritizes Nigeria’s well‑being, he should contemplate stepping down.

The former adviser recommended that Nigerians look for an alternative leader in 2027—whether from within or outside Tinubu’s party—who possesses the qualities needed to address the country’s challenges. His comments come as Nigeria continues to grapple with socio‑economic and security issues, and the leadership faces criticism for its response. As the 2027 elections approach, citizens will be closely watching the political landscape, seeking a leader who can effectively tackle pressing problems and improve overall quality of life. The call for Tinubu to reconsider his position underscores the ongoing debate about Nigeria’s future and the need for effective leadership to drive positive change.
