TikTok introduces Shared Feed for co-browsing with friends

TikTok has introduced a new feature that enables users to share a feed with someone via direct messaging, allowing them to browse and enjoy content together based on shared interests. This feature, called Shared Feed, is designed to help friends and family members stay connected by surfacing new content tailored to their mutual tastes.

According to a press release, Shared Feed allows two people to access a curated selection of 15 videos daily in their private chat, aligned with their interests. The videos are generated based on the users’ TikTok activity, including what they like, watch, and comment on. This means that users can discover new content that is relevant to their shared interests, such as sports, holiday activities, or fashion.

To use the Shared Feed feature, users simply need to start a shared feed in a direct message with someone. The TikTok algorithm will then provide a daily dose of videos that both users should enjoy. For example, two friends who are interested in golf can receive golf-related clips, while a couple can get recipe ideas for meal prep.

Users can interact with the videos within the direct message by commenting, liking, or messaging about them. If they no longer wish to participate, they can leave the shared feed at any time. This feature provides a new way for users to engage with TikTok content and connect with others who share similar interests.

The introduction of Shared Feed reflects TikTok’s efforts to enhance user engagement and provide a more social experience. By allowing users to share and discover content together, the platform aims to foster a sense of community and encourage users to spend more time on the app. As social media platforms continue to evolve, features like Shared Feed are likely to play an increasingly important role in shaping the user experience.
