Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has submitted a 2026 budget proposal exceeding N1.031 trillion to the state House of Assembly, according to Chief Press Secretary Bologi Ibrahim. The statement details that more than N270 billion is allocated for recurrent expenditure, while over N761 billion is earmarked for capital projects.

The governor emphasized that the budget is designed to boost agricultural growth, create jobs, improve healthcare and education, rehabilitate roads, enhance water supply and electricity, and strengthen security and the state’s economy. The allocation reflects a priority on capital projects intended to stimulate economic growth and improve residents’ quality of life.

Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, AbdulMalik Sarkin Daji, responded that lawmakers will scrutinize the budget carefully to ensure it aligns with the needs and aspirations of the people of Niger State.
