The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, reaffirmed his commitment to fostering strong relationships with Christian communities in Kano State, emphasizing peace, unity and religious tolerance as essential for the region’s progress. He made this pledge during a courtesy visit by leaders and elders of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Kano State chapter, at his palace on Saturday.
Sanusi reflected on his early education at a Catholic school, crediting it with instilling a deep respect for people of different faiths and the value of peaceful coexistence. He urged religious leaders to continue praying for lasting peace, especially in light of recent security concerns in some border areas of the state, and stressed the need for enhanced cooperation among various religious groups to promote unity and stability in Kano and across Nigeria.
Rev. Elkanah Enweluzor, PFN chairman in Kano State, explained that the visit was intended to demonstrate support for the Emir’s leadership and commend his efforts toward peace and harmony in the state. During the meeting, the Emir was honored with a Peace Award by the PFN, which he described as a meaningful and encouraging gesture.
