The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,200 personnel across the state’s three senatorial districts to ensure security during the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations. Commandant Akintayo Saidi Ayinla explained that the deployment is part of the command’s proactive strategy to safeguard lives, property and critical national assets throughout the festive period.
The personnel, drawn from various tactical and operational units—including the Counter‑Terrorism Squad, Anti‑Vandal Unit and Female Squad—will be stationed at key locations such as places of worship, recreational centres, major highways and markets. This presence aims to prevent criminal activities and ensure public safety during the holiday season.
Commandant Ayinla assured residents that the NSCDC is committed to providing a secure environment, allowing citizens and visitors to celebrate without fear. He warned criminal elements to stay away from the state, emphasizing that the corps will deal decisively with anyone found breaching the law. He also urged the public to remain law‑abiding and vigilant, supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid crime prevention and swift response.
