The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that its national convention will be held from March 25 to 28, 2026, as part of a comprehensive schedule of nationwide congresses. National Secretary Ajibola Basiru released a timetable outlining the activities aimed at electing party officials at every level.
The process begins with membership e‑registration on December 1, 2025, and will culminate in the national convention in late March. Notices of congresses to state and Federal Capital Territory chapters are slated for February 2, 2026, followed by the purchase and submission of forms for ward and local government area (LGA) congresses from February 4 to 9. Screening committees for ward and LGA positions will be inaugurated on February 10, with aspirant screening taking place from February 11 to 13. Ward congresses are scheduled for February 18, and LGA congresses for February 20.
At the state level, the purchase of forms for state executive positions will run from February 23 to 27, with screening and appeals for state executives occurring in late February and early March. State congresses are set for March 7, with appeals to be entertained from March 9 to 11. The party will then move to the zonal level, holding zonal congresses on March 21 across the six geopolitical zones.
The national convention, the culmination of these congresses, will bring together party members and leaders from across the country. It will provide an opportunity to elect new national officials and set the party’s future direction. With the timetable now released, the APC has set in motion a process that will shape its leadership and trajectory in the coming years. As one of Nigeria’s major political parties, the APC’s ability to conduct a successful and transparent convention will be closely watched by Nigerians and the international community, reflecting its commitment to democratic principles and internal democracy.
