PDP Constitutes Caretaker Committee in Zamfara State

The Peoples Democratic Party has established a caretaker committee to oversee its affairs in Zamfara State, following approval from the National Working Committee. Chaired by Hassan Muhammad Daudawa, the committee is tasked with managing the party’s activities in accordance with its constitution. Other members include Shehu S. Fulani, Rabiu Illele Bakura, Musa Mallaha, Sani Lasisi Kaura, Hajiya Hauwa Kulu Makkah, and Muhammad Danbuba, who will serve as secretary.

The caretaker committee’s primary responsibility is to ensure stability and effective administration in the state during a transitional period, which is expected to last no more than 90 days or until a new state executive committee is elected. The National Working Committee has urged party members in Zamfara State to cooperate fully with the caretaker committee to achieve this goal.

The establishment of the caretaker committee is in line with Section 21(2)(a-b) of the party’s constitution, which provides for such measures in exceptional circumstances. The move is aimed at maintaining order and continuity within the party’s state chapter.

The Peoples Democratic Party is one of the major political parties in Nigeria, and its activities are closely watched by the public and other stakeholders. The party’s national leadership has been working to strengthen its structures and processes, particularly in states where it has a significant presence.

In Zamfara State, the caretaker committee’s appointment is seen as a crucial step towards restoring stability and cohesion within the party. The committee’s success will depend on its ability to work effectively with party members and stakeholders, as well as its capacity to address the challenges facing the party in the state.

As the caretaker committee begins its work, the party’s national leadership will be monitoring its progress closely. The outcome of this process will have implications not only for the party’s performance in Zamfara State but also for its overall strength and competitiveness in Nigerian politics. With the committee’s tenure limited to 90 days, the party’s focus will be on ensuring a smooth transition and the eventual election of a new state executive committee.
