The Kaduna State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned the public and party members to be wary of individuals claiming to be the party’s leaders in the state. The warning follows an alleged inauguration of state executives that the party has declared illegal and misleading. According to the ADC, no such inauguration was conducted by its legitimate leadership in Kaduna State.

A former vice‑chairman, Tijani Ahmed, who led the purported inauguration, has been expelled from the party over allegations of extortion and anti‑party activities. In a statement released on Saturday, Alex Tagwai, the state Publicity Secretary of the ADC, clarified that claims of a court granting Ahmed the right to act as chairman of the party in Kaduna State are false. The party contests Ahmed’s leadership, noting that he is not recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) or the national secretariat of the ADC. Tagwai emphasized that Ahmed lacks legal authority to assume the chairmanship, stating, “If so, Tijjani Ahmed should present the legal document that gives him the power to assume the position of chairman of the party in the state.”

The ADC’s statement aims to set the record straight and caution against misleading speculation. Party leadership has urged members and the public to remain vigilant and to seek clarification from authorized sources. As the situation unfolds, the national secretariat and INEC are expected to play crucial roles in resolving the dispute and confirming the legitimacy of the party’s leadership in Kaduna State.

The African Democratic Congress is a significant political party in Nigeria, and the events in Kaduna State could affect its overall structure and operations. Addressing internal conflicts transparently will be essential for maintaining the trust of members and the public. Further statements and actions are likely as the party works to resolve the dispute and ensure continued stability.
