APC Defends Tinubu’s Europe Trip Amid ADC Criticism

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to criticism from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) regarding President Bola Tinubu’s recent trip to Europe. The APC stated that the ADC’s criticism demonstrates a lack of understanding of modern governance and the importance of international engagement.

According to Mogaji Seye Oladejo, spokesman for the APC, President Tinubu’s trip is focused on advancing Nigeria’s economic interests, strengthening bilateral relations, and attracting investment. Oladejo emphasized that the president’s engagements are aligned with Nigeria’s economic recovery agenda, foreign direct investment drive, and infrastructure financing goals.

The APC criticized the ADC for its fixation on the president’s travel, suggesting that it exposes the opposition party’s lack of ideas and concrete policies. Oladejo noted that the ADC has resorted to monitoring flight schedules and issuing press releases rooted in envy and ignorance, rather than offering credible alternatives to the government’s policies.

The APC also pointed out that many of those criticizing the president’s travel were silent or complicit during previous administrations’ foreign trips that yielded little benefit to the nation. In contrast, President Tinubu’s international engagements are aimed at repositioning Nigeria and promoting its economic interests.

Oladejo emphasized that Nigerians are not deceived by the ADC’s criticism and can see the difference between a president working to reposition the nation and an opposition party trapped in the politics of distraction. As the year draws to a close, the APC advised the opposition to urgently develop serious alternatives to the government’s policies, rather than relying on empty noise-making and shallow theatrics.

The APC reiterated that President Tinubu remains firmly in charge and committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which involves bold domestic reforms and purposeful international engagement. The party emphasized that the president’s efforts are aimed at benefiting Nigeria and its citizens, and that his international engagements are a key part of this process.
