Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has approved the appointment of nine new Permanent Secretaries to strengthen the state’s public service. Announced by State Head of Service Kehinde Onasanya, the appointments are intended to boost operational capabilities, administrative stability and policy implementation across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). The selections were made on the basis of merit, professionalism, inclusiveness and civil‑service experience, in accordance with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. All nine appointees were drawn from a pool of successful directors who completed the Ogun State executive leadership development pipeline programme. The new Permanent Secretaries are Abdul‑Azeez Ajidele, Olufunmilayo Soyoye‑Baker, Adebimpe Obienu, Kafayat Lawal, Ahmed Adetona, Idowu Onasanya, Olalekan Taiwo, Akintomiwa Osibodu and Kehinde Akintomide, and they will assume various roles such as directors of planning, agriculture, public prosecution and audit.
In addition to the Permanent Secretary appointments, Governor Abiodun also approved the appointment of two Principals‑General and four Headteachers‑General to fill vacant positions in the Teaching Service Commission and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB). The individuals named to these posts are Matthew Adeyinka Osilesi, Yakubu Olorunyomi Lamidi, Benjamin Alonge, Aminat Busari, Olusegun Akapo and Folake Onabanjo. They were selected after a rigorous process and are expected to demonstrate dedication and selflessness in their new responsibilities.
These appointments form part of the governor’s broader effort to strengthen Ogun State’s public service and education sector. The newly appointed officials are expected to play key roles in implementing government policies and improving administrative processes, thereby enhancing service delivery and ensuring effective policy implementation across various sectors.
