The Chinese Embassy in Liberia hosted a New Year’s Eve reception on December 30, celebrating the deepening strategic partnership between China and Liberia and their shared achievements in 2025. Organized in collaboration with Liberia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event brought together more than 60 participants, including senior Liberian government officials and Chinese diplomats.
Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Yin Chengwu praised the significant progress made in China‑Liberia relations during 2025, describing the year as one of “robust growth” and strengthened mutual trust under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Joseph Nyuma Boakai. He thanked the Liberian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his colleagues for expanding exchanges and cooperation across multiple sectors and for deepening people‑to‑people ties between the two nations.
Ambassador Yin reflected on major milestones China achieved in 2025, such as commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti‑Fascist War. He noted the unveiling of recommendations for China’s 15th Five‑Year Plan, calling it a new chapter in the country’s modernization drive, and highlighted President Xi’s Global Governance Initiative, which aims to build “a community with a shared future for mankind.”
The ambassador congratulated Liberia on its election as a non‑permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026‑2027 term, calling the achievement “outstanding and historic.” He reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Liberia based on mutual respect and shared development goals, expressing optimism that the bilateral relationship will reach “new heights” in the years ahead.
Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, reiterated her country’s firm support for the one‑China principle and praised China’s accomplishments in poverty alleviation and global development initiatives. She welcomed President Xi’s Global Governance Initiative and emphasized Liberia’s readiness to collaborate closely with China as it prepares to assume its Security Council role in 2026.
The reception concluded with guests taking part in games and social activities in a warm, friendly atmosphere that reflected the enduring friendship between the two nations.
