Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has urged residents to vote responsibly in the upcoming Area Council elections, emphasizing that citizen participation is essential for strengthening democracy. In his 2026 New Year message, Wike praised residents for their resilience and cooperation with the FCT Administration over the past year and extended warm New Year greetings.
The Minister described the forthcoming elections as a key civic responsibility, noting that taking part in free, fair and peaceful polls is crucial for accountable local governance. He assured residents that the FCT Administration is committed to providing a safe and equitable environment for the elections, which will be held across the Territory’s six Area Councils. Measures will be implemented to prevent violence, malpractice or any disruption to the electoral process.
