With six days remaining before Oyo State’s governorship election, a coalition of Bola Tinubu support groups publicly endorsed the re‑election bid of incumbent governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party. The coalition, which includes Southern for Tinubu BAT Democracy, Yoruba Campaign for BAT, and Tinubu Campaign Movement, announced its decision during a solidarity visit to the deputy governor’s residence in Ibadan, the state capital.

A joint statement signed by the coalition’s national coordinator, Adebayo Moronsole, and its public relations officer/director of strategy, Emmanuel Adesanya, read: “Makinde should continue in office for the improved life of the people of the state; therefore, the Southwest for Bola Ahmed Tinubu coalition groups pledge our support for him and his deputy. We are here today, Your Excellency, to declare our support for Governor Makinde and his deputy. This decision results from their outstanding performances in office. The group comprises no fewer than 372,000 members who hold Permanent Voter Cards. Our grassroots mobilizers are now conducting a house‑to‑house campaign for the governor’s re‑election. We have benefited from many of Makinde’s achievements, including peace and security in the state. Consequently, we urge residents to support his re‑election to continue these good works.”

Deputy Governor Adebayo Lawal responded by thanking the groups for their thoughtfulness and readiness to sustain the state’s progress. He praised Makinde as “one of the best governors the state has ever produced,” citing his unprecedented achievements over nearly four years of governance. “For the continuity of this great feat, he deserves another chance to lead the state toward prosperity,” Lawal affirmed.
