The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chairman in Kano State, Haruna Doguwa, warned on Sunday that the party will resist any attempt to manipulate the collated results of the Fagge Federal House of Representatives election. His warning follows the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) decision to hold supplementary elections in 18 affected polling units.

Speaking at an emergency conference organized by the NNPP, Doguwa highlighted that the party’s candidate, Mohammed Bello Fagge, received 18,410 votes. This total outstripped the Labour Party candidate’s 12,729 votes, the All Progressives Congress candidate’s 8,194 votes, and the Peoples Democratic Party’s 6,546 votes, as announced by collation officer Professor Shehu Umar of Bayero University, Kano.

Doguwa noted that results from 15 polling units were cancelled due to over‑voting and disruption of the electoral process at Ammy Day Primary School and 17 other polling units. The margin between the NNPP and the Labour Party is 5,656 votes, indicating that the number of collected PVCs exceeds this margin and that a supplementary election is required to determine the winner.

The Kano NNPP observed attempts by unscrupulous elements to collude with the Kano State Government and INEC officials to manipulate the collated results. Consequently, the party called on the presidency and security agencies to thwart such efforts.
