Sports commentators Richard Keys and Andy Gray have questioned referee Chris Kavanagh’s role in Arsenal’s 3‑2 Premier League victory over Bournemouth on Saturday. They argued that Arsenal would not have had the chance to win if Kavanagh had not extended the injury‑time period.

The Gunners appeared destined to drop at least two points after Bournemouth stunned them at the Emirates Stadium, taking a 2‑0 lead. Arsenal fought back through Thomas Partey, Ben White and a dramatic 97th‑minute winner from Reiss Nelson.

The commentators wondered why the referee allowed play to continue until the 97th minute when only six minutes had been added for injury time. Keys asked, “I would ask about the time of the goal as 97 minutes had been played. I think Bournemouth will have reason to think, ‘where did you find that time?’ The referee will have a reason.” Andy Gray added, “There were six minutes added on, you can see that in the top corner, and we were just approaching the 98th minute when Reiss Nelson scored.”
