APC Welcomes Plateau Governor, Urges Unity

The North-Central All Progressives Congress Forum has officially welcomed Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to the party, following his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party. In a statement released by the Forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, the group urged Governor Mutfwang to prioritize unity and progress, avoiding divisive ethnic and religious agendas that may have been present during his time in the PDP.

The Forum, comprising APC stakeholders from the six North-Central states, expressed confidence in Governor Mutfwang’s ability to take the party to greater heights, stating that his defection is in the best interest of the people of Plateau. The group advised the governor to work closely with President Bola Tinubu and to unite the citizens of Plateau State, regardless of their ethnic and religious differences.

According to the statement, the Forum’s campaign to convince Governor Mutfwang to join the APC was driven by a desire to create an environment where unity thrives, and ethnic and religious differences are set aside. The group noted that some officials in the governor’s former administration promoted divisive agendas, and that his defection to the APC provides an opportunity to distance himself from such influences.

The North-Central APC Forum urged Governor Mutfwang to take charge of his administration, free from undue influence, and to work towards the development of Plateau State. The group also encouraged the governor to embrace the principles of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach all citizens of the state.

Despite facing intimidation during their campaign, the Forum persevered, confident that Governor Mutfwang’s defection would strengthen the party and serve the best interests of the people of Plateau. The group had previously endorsed President Tinubu for another term and promised to deliver six million votes in 2027, with Governor Mutfwang’s defection seen as a key factor in achieving this goal.

With Governor Mutfwang’s formal entry into the APC, the party is expected to gain strength in the region, and the Forum’s efforts are likely to have a significant impact on the state’s political landscape. As the governor begins his new chapter in the APC, he is expected to prioritize unity, progress, and development, working closely with President Tinubu and the people of Plateau State to achieve these goals.
