Rivers SSG Anabraba Joins APC

The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Benibo Sinai Anabraba, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). This development comes after Anabraba resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) earlier on Monday. A statement from the Office of the SSG confirmed that Anabraba completed his registration as an APC member on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Ward 1, Unit 1, Bob-Manuel’s Compound, Abonnema, Akuku Toru LGA of the State.

According to Juliana Masi, Head of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the SSG, Anabraba’s registration formally confirms his identity as a party member, enabling him to fully participate in all APC activities. This move is seen as a significant development in Rivers State politics, as Anabraba will now be supporting Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara’s “Rivers First” mission and the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Anabraba emphasized the importance of collaboration between the state and federal governments, stating that a strong partnership “is bound to produce greater benefits for the good of the people.” This statement highlights the potential for improved cooperation and development in the region. With Anabraba’s defection to the APC, the political landscape in Rivers State is likely to undergo significant changes.

As a key figure in the state government, Anabraba’s decision to join the APC is expected to have far-reaching implications for the region’s politics and development. The move may pave the way for increased cooperation between the state and federal governments, potentially leading to improved infrastructure, economic growth, and social development in Rivers State. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how Anabraba’s defection will impact the state’s political dynamics and the implementation of the “Rivers First” mission and the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
