Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp expressed his delight after his team’s 7‑0 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday. He described the result as part of football, calling it an “amazing match” and praising the quality of play.
Cody Gakpo, Darwin Núñez and Mohamed Salah each scored twice as Liverpool erased a season of frustration with a dominant performance at Anfield. The win set a new record margin of victory in the clash between England’s two most successful clubs. United’s second defeat in 23 games across all competitions effectively ends their hopes of a league title for the first time in a decade, leaving them 14 points behind leaders Arsenal in third place.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Klopp said: “No words. Spectacular football game. Outstanding. We played top football against the team in form. The second half start was pretty good and the end was pretty good. That is football, it can happen. It was the push we wanted. It puts us in the right direction. Everyone has to know we are still around. It wasn’t the case for a while but tonight was a proper show of what we can be and what we have to be from now on.”
