2027: APC chair boasts Plateau will give Tinubu over one million votes

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, expressed confidence that the party will deliver a substantial number of votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. Speaking at an APC stakeholders’ meeting for the Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam Federal Constituency in Pankshin, Plateau State, Yilwatda predicted that the state would contribute one million votes to the president’s tally.

According to Yilwatda, the APC has strengthened its position in Plateau State since 2023, with former opposition forces now aligning with the party. He pointed to the collapse of opposition structures and the party’s growing dominance as key factors behind this shift. Notably, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, state commissioners, local government chairmen, and other political appointees who previously opposed the APC have now joined its ranks.

The Pankshin, Kanke, and Kanam area is traditionally an APC stronghold, and President Tinubu recorded some of his highest vote totals there during the 2023 presidential election. Yilwatda emphasized that the absence of the stumbling blocks that hindered the party’s progress in 2023 will enable a stronger showing in the upcoming elections.

The APC’s expanding influence in Plateau State can be attributed to the realignment of political forces and concerted efforts to consolidate its position. As the 2027 general elections approach, the party’s ability to deliver votes will be closely watched, and Plateau State is likely to play a significant role in determining the presidential outcome. In Nigeria’s broader electoral landscape, the APC’s performance in Plateau will serve as an important indicator of its national strength, as parties intensify efforts to mobilize support and solidify their positions ahead of the 2027 polls.
