Umar Nadada has assumed the role of Assistant Inspector‑General of Police for Zone 14 Headquarters in Katsina, Katsina State, becoming the eighth person to hold this position. The appointment was announced by Zone 14 Police Public Relations Officer ASP Umar Muhammad, who noted that Nadada brings extensive experience in crime prevention and public‑trust promotion to the Nigeria Police Force.
Nadada’s law‑enforcement background is robust. He has served in various operational, investigative, and administrative capacities across Nigeria, contributing significantly to internal security and police reforms. A native of Rano Local Government Area in Kano State, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Biology from Bayero University, Kano, and a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and completed professional training at the Nigeria Police Academy Annex in Kaduna.
As the new head of Zone 14, Nadada is expected to leverage his education and experience to address the region’s security challenges, enhance public confidence in the police, and improve crime‑prevention strategies. His leadership is seen as pivotal for maintaining internal security and fostering community engagement. In his new role, he will likely build on existing initiatives and introduce new measures tailored to the unique security needs of the area. This change in leadership forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force and boost its effectiveness in maintaining law and order.
