Soludo denies report of threat, conspiracy against Obi

Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has dismissed allegations that he was contracted to eliminate Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi. Speaking through his press secretary, Christian Aburime, the governor affirmed that, as the state’s leader, he would never plot against any lawful citizen, including Obi. Aburime made these remarks to journalists in Awka on Monday, responding to a viral social‑media message that claimed Soludo had been hired to kill Obi for a fee.

The circulating report, titled “Hold Soludo responsible if anything happens to Peter Obi,” alleged that Soludo harbored hatred for Obi and that a helicopter had taken him to a secret meeting at Government House, Owerri, at 1:30 a.m. The purported agenda was to “physically, politically and otherwise” stop Obi, with Soludo allegedly receiving five million dollars in cash for the “hatchet job.”

Aburime rejected the story as infantile, nauseating, mischievous, unnecessarily inflammatory, and a product of the authors’ imagination. He emphasized that none of the allegations are true; the governor has been in Anambra engaging stakeholders for the upcoming Saturday election. The public is urged to disregard the falsehoods, and Anambra residents are encouraged to vote for APGA in the state House of Assembly election to sustain Governor Soludo’s developmental agenda.

He condemned the fabrication, stating that Soludo never traveled to Owerri, was never offered any money, and certainly did not intend to harm anyone, including his brother Peter Obi, an “illustrious son of Anambra.” Soludo wishes Obi well and appreciates the massive support Anambra voters gave him, noting that the state’s peaceful election history reflects his non‑violent approach.

Aburime called on Anambra people, Ndigbo at home and abroad, to ignore the misinformation, describing it as a plot to create chaos ahead of the State Assembly election in the southeast geopolitical zone. He also urged Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba to launch an immediate investigation to identify the perpetrators behind the false report.
