Osimhen to captain Super Eagles against Morocco

Victor Osimhen is set to lead the Super Eagles as captain in their semi-final match against Morocco’s Atlas Lions, following the suspension of regular captain Wilfred Ndidi due to accumulated yellow cards. Ndidi received cautions in Nigeria’s Round of 16 match against Mozambique and the quarter-final tie against Tunisia, resulting in his suspension for the upcoming game.

Osimhen, who was named vice-captain of the Super Eagles on the eve of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, has previous experience leading the team, having captained the side in their last group stage match against Uganda. This experience will be invaluable as he steps in to fill the void left by Ndidi’s suspension.

The Super Eagles are looking to advance to the final of the tournament, and Osimhen’s leadership will be crucial in their semi-final encounter against Morocco. The Atlas Lions have been a formidable opponent in the tournament, and the match is expected to be closely contested.

The suspension of Ndidi is a significant blow to the Super Eagles, as he has been a key player in the team’s campaign so far. However, the team has shown resilience and depth in the tournament, and Osimhen’s captaincy is expected to provide a steady hand in Ndidi’s absence.

As the Super Eagles prepare to face Morocco, they will be looking to draw on their previous experiences in the tournament, including their victories over Mozambique and Tunisia. The team’s performance in the group stage, where they topped their group, has set them up well for the knockout stages, and they will be looking to carry this momentum into the semi-final.

The semi-final match between the Super Eagles and the Atlas Lions promises to be an exciting encounter, with both teams looking to secure a spot in the final. With Osimhen at the helm, the Super Eagles will be looking to overcome the challenge posed by Morocco and advance to the next stage of the tournament.
