Nigerian Army jobs secured for 517 youths by Senator Yari

Nigerian Senator Secures Army Jobs for 517 Youths

Senator Abdul’aziz Yari of Zamfara West has facilitated the recruitment of 517 unemployed youths from his senatorial district into the Nigerian Army. This was disclosed by Sha’ayau Sarkinfawa, Coordinator of Yari’s Constituency Office, during a monthly meeting in Talata Mafara town. The meeting was attended by local government coordinators and other officials from the senatorial district.

The youths, drawn from six local government areas, including Anka, Bakura, Bukkuyum, Gummi, Maradun, and Talata Mafara, were recruited through various batches of the Nigerian Army’s recruitment exercises. This initiative aims to reduce unemployment among youths in the state and complement the federal government’s efforts to address prevailing security challenges. Additionally, nine university graduates from the constituency were provided with government jobs at federal establishments.

To enhance security in the region, Senator Yari has also approved the installation of 200 solar street lights in four communities under Anka and Maradun local government areas. These communities have been experiencing recurring security challenges, and the provision of street lights is part of the lawmaker’s intervention to tackle these issues. This initiative is in addition to various other programs aimed at improving security, health, education, women’s empowerment, and youth development across the six local government areas.

Sarkinfawa emphasized Senator Yari’s commitment to providing employment opportunities to unemployed youths, particularly graduates from tertiary institutions. The senator has also pledged to continue providing socio-economic support to vulnerable families, especially those affected by banditry. The people of the state have been urged to pray for lasting peace and stability in the region and the country at large.

The recruitment of the 517 youths into the Nigerian Army is a significant step towards addressing unemployment and security challenges in Zamfara State. As the country continues to grapple with insecurity, initiatives like this can help to reduce the pool of idle youths who may be vulnerable to recruitment by criminal groups. The provision of solar street lights and other development programs also underscores the importance of a multi-faceted approach to addressing security challenges.
