Goodluck Jonathan Urged to Run in 2027 Election

A Canadian-based group, Goodluckan Movement, has urged former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan to run in the 2027 presidential election. The group’s spokesperson, Chidinma Unigwe, made the call during an interview with Arise Television, emphasizing that Jonathan’s leadership style embodies the values Nigeria needs.

According to Unigwe, the group believes Nigeria requires a government that genuinely cares about its citizens and provides equal opportunities for all. She stressed that Nigerians deserve accountable leaders who respect public trust. The movement’s mission is to promote good governance, peaceful civic engagement, and informed national dialogue, particularly at a time when many Nigerians feel disconnected from leadership.

Unigwe noted that most Nigerians are uncertain about the future, and in this context, the group is calling on Jonathan to contest the 2027 election due to his relevant leadership qualities. The movement is urging Nigerians both at home and abroad to join in their efforts.

Unigwe highlighted that Jonathan represents respect for democratic institutions, national unity, and restraint in the exercise of power. These qualities, she emphasized, have become increasingly important during times of economic pressure, social tension, and declining trust in leadership.

The call for Jonathan’s candidacy comes as Nigeria prepares for its next presidential election. The country has faced various challenges in recent years, including economic difficulties and social unrest. The Goodluckan Movement’s endorsement of Jonathan reflects a desire for a leader who can address these issues and provide a sense of stability and unity.

As the 2027 election approaches, it remains to be seen whether Jonathan will heed the group’s call and enter the race. The outcome of the election will be closely watched, both within Nigeria and internationally, as the country seeks a leader who can guide it through its current challenges and promote a more stable and prosperous future.
