Ondo State Commissioner of Police Oyediran Oyeyemi announced that the Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 16‑year‑old girl for allegedly causing the death of 52‑year‑old Medinat Aliu in Isolo, Akure. According to police reports, the incident occurred after an argument erupted between the two women over a matter involving a local well.

A community source explained that the dispute began when the teenager was fetching water from the well after taking a bath. The deceased noticed that the girl had not covered her hair and asked her to do so. The request sparked a confrontation, and as the older woman tried to move the teenager away from the well, the girl pushed her. Aliu fell and later died from the injuries sustained.

State Police Public Relations Officer Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the arrest and said that an investigation is underway. “The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Department for further investigation,” she stated. It was also reported that the deceased was buried according to Islamic rites.
