APC’s Oyebamiji Picks Olatunji as 2026 Osun Running Mate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has finalised its ticket for the 2026 governorship election, naming former lawmaker Tunde Lekan Olatunji as the deputy governorship candidate to its flag bearer, Bola Oyebamiji. This development comes as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) published the official list of candidates for the state’s upcoming poll.

INEC’s Osun State office confirmed the publication on Monday, with the names of all nominated governorship and deputy governorship pairs now displayed at its offices across the state’s local government areas. The formal nomination concludes the APC’s internal process for selecting its running mate.

Olatunji, an indigene of Edunabon, previously represented the Ife North State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly from 2019 to 2023. During his four-year tenure, he served as the House’s Chief Whip, a key leadership role responsible for coordinating legislative business and ensuring party discipline among lawmakers.

Party officials stated that Olatunji’s selection followed extensive consultations with critical stakeholders throughout Osun State. The process aims to balance the ticket and consolidate support ahead of the 2026 election.

The pairing sets the stage for the APC’s campaign to retain the governorship, which it currently holds. The formalisation of candidates by INEC marks a key milestone in the electoral cycle, allowing for the commencement of official campaign activities. The 2026 Osun State governorship election will be a significant contest, with the APC ticket now fully constituted for the race.
