APC Claims ADC Is Its Own Nemesis in Edo Shooting Incident

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rebuked the African Democratic Congress (ADC), asserting that the smaller party is responsible for its own political struggles. The confrontation stems from ADC’s allegations that the APC was involved in a shooting incident targeting its members in Edo State.

In a statement, the APC categorically denied any involvement and accused the ADC of acting rashly and illogically. Felix Morka, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, described the ADC and its leadership as “insufferable jesters” who resort to “dark humor” to gain sympathy. He criticized the ADC for immediately blaming the APC before any police investigation, arguing this demonstrated a disregard for legal processes.

“By its baseless conclusion, the party has declared itself to be the accuser, investigator, prosecutor, and judge in its own cause,” the statement read. The APC questioned how a party unable to manage a single incident maturely could contribute to national security discussions.

The APC further alleged that the ADC is plagued by internal discord, calling it “a party of leaders without members” overrun by “cult-like supremacy struggles.” It urged law enforcement to scrutinize ADC factional clashes as a potential lead in the Edo incident. “The ADC cannot smear our great Party with a violent incident of its own exclusive making,” the statement added.

The ruling party also highlighted its recent electoral victories in the Federal Capital Territory, Rivers, and Kano, suggesting the ADC’s allegations are a distraction from its own repeated poor electoral performances. The APC maintained it is focused on national development under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

The ADC has not yet responded to the APC’s latest rebuttal. The exchange underscores the tense rhetoric between Nigeria’s political parties as they prepare for future contests. The police investigation into the Edo shooting remains pending.
