Taraba APC Congress: Kefas Stresses Unity, 2027 Goal

Taraba APC Congress Elects New Leadership, Governor Stresses Unity for 2027

Governor Agbu Kefas urged the newly elected leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State to prioritize justice, inclusiveness, and unity during the party’s state congress held on Tuesday. Speaking to hundreds of delegates and supporters at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo, the governor emphasized that fair treatment of all members and internal cohesion are essential for the party’s stability and future electoral success.

The congress resulted in the emergence of a new state executive committee following a consensus process agreed upon by 840 delegates representing the state’s 168 wards. The State Congress Committee, which oversaw the proceedings, confirmed that the election by voice vote complied with the party’s constitutional guidelines.

Observers noted the event was conducted peacefully and orderly, describing it as a sign of improving internal harmony within the Taraba APC. In his address, Governor Kefas specifically charged the new executives to intensify grassroots mobilization and strategic engagement across the state, directly linking internal party unity to the APC’s prospects in the 2027 general elections.

The newly elected State Chairman, Abubakar Bawa, in his acceptance speech, pledged to lead with transparency and collaboration. He committed to an open-door administration and vowed to work with stakeholders at all levels to strengthen party unity and advance its objectives.

The successful conclusion of the congress, underpinned by a consensus model, sets the stage for the new leadership to consolidate support in a state where the APC has historically faced strong opposition. The focus now shifts to translating this internal accord into a robust organizational structure capable of competitive performance in the next electoral cycle. The party faithful expressed optimism that the new executive would build on the congress’s outcomes to broaden the APC’s appeal and influence across Taraba.
