Linc Edochie warns North Nigeria against U.S.-Israel provocation

Popular Nigerian actor Linc Edochie has urged residents in northern Nigeria to refrain from protests supporting Iran, warning that such demonstrations could provoke retaliation from superpower nations like the United States and Israel. His appeal follows pro-Iran rallies in several northern states after reports emerged of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death in a joint airstrike by Israel and the U.S. on February 28, 2026. The alleged strike has intensified Middle East tensions, with Iran launching counterattacks on Israeli and U.S. assets, raising specters of a wider conflict.

Edochie conveyed his warning via a video on his Facebook page, directly addressing northern youths advocating for Iran. He stressed that while the crisis may seem distant, its escalation could lead to a global war of unprecedented scale. “This may not be our direct concern, but what is happening in the world, let us take this matter to God in prayers,” he said. Edochie asserted that a third world war has effectively begun, likely to be fought through non-conventional means and potentially the deadliest in history.

The actor highlighted Nigeria’s vulnerability compared to major military powers. “We cannot stand the fury of these countries,” he stated, cautioning that drawing attention from the U.S. or Israel would endanger national security. Edochie called for self-restraint, urging citizens to focus on domestic challenges rather than international disputes. His message reflects broader concerns about Nigeria’s exposure to geopolitical rivalries, given its status as Africa’s most populous nation and its historical non-aligned foreign policy.

The protests in northern Nigeria, home to a significant Muslim population with cultural ties to Iran, underscore local reactions to global events. However, Edochie’s intervention emphasizes the risks of aligning with nations in conflict with Western powers. As the Middle East situation remains unstable, his plea for calm and prayer highlights the delicate balance between expressing solidarity and protecting national interests.

Edochie’s warning serves as a reminder of the potential fallout from regional protests becoming entangled in superpower confrontations. It underscores the need for Nigerian citizens and leaders to prioritize stability amid evolving global threats, reinforcing the importance of diplomatic caution in an interconnected world.
