The Cross River State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has firmly condemned attempts by non-party members to usurp its organizational structure, asserting that the party operates under a unified and constitutionally recognized leadership.
In a statement made in Calabar, Dr. Mcphalane Ejah, the party’s Vice Chairman for the Central Senatorial District, speaking on behalf of State Chairman Ambassador Dr. John Oga, described the unauthorized activities as a concerning development orchestrated by individuals outside the party’s official framework.
Dr. Ejah emphasized that the ADC in Cross River State remains cohesive under the leadership of Dr. Oga and strictly adheres to its constitution. He categorically stated that no legitimate faction exists within the state chapter, reinforcing that the only recognized leadership is that of the state executive headed by Dr. Oga.
The vice chairman expressed gratitude to party members statewide for their steadfast commitment to the ADC’s growth. He reaffirmed the party’s core commitment to people-centered development and democratic principles, positioning the ADC as a responsible opposition force.
“As an opposition party, ADC in Cross River State is committed to people-centric development, placing the interests of the people at heart,” Dr. Ejah stated. “We believe that the will of the people should prevail and be respected. We reject impunity and imposition and will not tolerate actions or attitudes that undermine the democratic will of the people.”
The statement underscores the ADC’s effort to project internal stability and constitutional compliance as it prepares for future electoral contests. By denouncing external infiltration and affirming its singular leadership, the Cross River State chapter seeks to clarify its official stance amid reported political maneuverings. The party’s reiteration of its foundational principles signals its intended approach to governance and opposition within the state’s political landscape.
