Unstoppable Women of Web3, a Web3 educational group, announced its commitment to train 6 million women in Africa on Web3 and the metaverse over the next five years, marking International Women’s Day. The initiative, launched in collaboration with 19 companies, will begin by expanding access to user‑owned digital identities. For the next 30 days, Unstoppable Women of Web3 and Unstoppable Domains will offer free Unstoppable domains that anyone can claim.
Founder Sandy Carter highlighted Africa’s rapidly growing Web3 sector while acknowledging that it is not immune to the gender‑equality challenges seen worldwide. “We need to make sure everyone has a seat at the table. Empowerment starts with education, which is why we are thrilled to lead this initiative to educate 6 million African women on the metaverse and Web3,” she said.
To fulfill this commitment, partner organizations will provide Web3 and metaverse education through a variety of streams, including programs, learning materials, in‑person events, and online courses. Carter noted that Africa is among the fastest‑growing adopters of blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and Web3 technology globally, yet the sector remains male‑dominated. In 2021, for example, less than 5 % of the 121 leading crypto companies were founded by women, and women accounted for only 10 % of partners at crypto funds.
