Bandits abducted three people from Beji in the Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State on Wednesday. According to Abdulahi Aminu, a resident who spoke to our correspondent, the attackers entered the community at 1 a.m. and began firing sporadically. “We were sleeping when we started to hear gunshots, and people began to run into the bush,” he said. The bandits continued shooting for more than two hours without interruption, moving behind the Beji General Hospital and encountering no resistance from security agencies or vigilante members.
Aminu reported that a woman and her two daughters were taken from their home and transported to an unknown destination. “One woman and her two daughters were abducted by the bandits, while their male tenants, who were also taken, later escaped,” he added. He noted that the kidnappers have not yet contacted the family for ransom and that the abduction is suspected to be linked to an inheritance dispute over a filling station in Beji.
The Niger State Police Command spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. He added that a tactical team has been dispatched to rescue the victims.
