YASBM: Humans Revolt Against AI Slop with Creative LARP

A new online platform, Your AI Slop Bores Me (YASBM), is gaining traction as a human-driven response to the proliferation of AI-generated content. The site facilitates a live-action role-play where users create original writing or drawings for each other within strict time limits, directly challenging the polished but often uniform output of artificial intelligence.

YASBM operates on a token-based system. Users earn tokens by fulfilling creative requests from others and spend tokens to submit their own. The platform’s design intentionally mimics the simple, lo-fi aesthetic of 1990s websites, emphasizing a raw, human touch. Proponents argue this model produces content that is more personal and engaging than AI-generated material.

The concept has resonated with a significant audience. Since its rapid rise via Reddit, X, and TikTok, YASBM reports approximately one million unique visitors and a dedicated community of over 25,000 members on its Discord server. Creator Mihir Maroju notes a growing base of daily returning users who enjoy “being the AI” for others.

The site’s popularity has created operational challenges. A surge in traffic recently overwhelmed its hosting provider, causing extended downtime. In response, a small volunteer team has formed to manage website support and Discord moderation, including systems to deter spam and confirm user humanity.

Maroju indicated future development plans, including a potential mobile application, though details are not yet available. The platform’s sustained interest suggests a market for spaces that prioritize spontaneous human creativity over algorithmic generation, marking a notable shift in the ongoing discourse around artificial intelligence’s role in digital content creation.
