Nasarawa PDP Defectors Join APC for 2027 Election Victory

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, has asserted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is the dominant political force poised to win across all levels in Nigeria’s 2027 general election.

Speaking on Tuesday in Lafia, Jatau hosted over 20 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders from the Eggon ethnic group who are defecting to the APC. He welcomed the move, describing it as timely and well-informed, and assured all new members of equal opportunities and rights within the party. He expressed particular joy at their decision, calling it “another big catch and victory” for the APC in the state.

Jatau stated he would formally inform Governor Abdullahi Sule and the state APC chairman about the new members’ arrival, after which they would receive an official welcome. He called for loyalty, unity, and teamwork among party members to secure a “landslide victory” in 2027. Furthermore, he urged residents to continue supporting and praying for the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and Governor Sule’s government.

The team leader of the defecting group, Alhaji Abubakar Company, explained their decision to relocate to the APC citing the “quality leadership” of Governor Sule and Speaker Jatau. He pledged that the group would add value to the party and work to ensure victory not only in 2027 but in subsequent elections.

This defection underscores the APC’s continued efforts to consolidate its hold in Nasarawa State, a battleground in the North Central region where the party currently controls the governorship and legislative majority. The influx of senior PDP figures signals a significant realignment ahead of the next electoral cycle, reinforcing the APC’s narrative of being the party of choice. The formal induction of the new members is expected in the coming days, marking a key moment in the state’s pre-election political dynamics.
