Katsina police repel terrorists’ attack, kill one

Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command in the early hours of Wednesday repelled a terrorists’ attack at the Jabiri area in Funtua Local Government Area of the state.

The operatives killed one terrorist, arrested another and recovered one AK-47 in the encounter.

The command’s spokesman, Gambo Isah, confirmed the incident this evening.

According to him, the police had received a distress call around 1 a.m. on that day that the terrorists had attacked the household in large numbers and were shooting indiscriminately.

He said the  DPO for the area led the police team to repel the attack during which the terrorist was gunned down.

Isah disclosed, “Due to superior firepower, the team successfully repelled the attack, neutralized one of the terrorists, arrested one Jamilu Ahmed, 25 of Rugar Sarkin Baka, Goya Village, Funtua Local Government Area and recovered one Ak-47 rifle.

“In the course of an investigation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence and further confessed to several banditries in Tatari, Abasawa, Majewa, and Bageri villages, among others leading to armed robbery and kidnappings.

“The Suspect also confessed to having shot and killed two of his victims.

“Investigation is ongoing.’’
