Trump Endorses Jake Paul, Predicts Run for Political Office

At a campaign rally in Kentucky on Wednesday, former President Donald Trump publicly praised internet personality Jake Paul and predicted he would run for political office in the near future, offering his endorsement.

The event, held in the Bluegrass state, was intended to support Republican Congressional candidate Ed Gallrein in his challenge against incumbent Representative Thomas Massie, a frequent critic of Trump. Following Gallrein’s speech, Trump shifted focus to Paul, who had made a brief appearance on stage. Trump described the YouTuber as a “powerful fighter,” a “great guy,” and “a very tough cookie.” Paul, addressing the crowd, echoed the combative tone, stating, “We never back down from a fight.” He also expressed hope for a resurgence of manufacturing, suggesting potential policy themes for a future campaign.

Trump then made a direct prediction: “I predict… that [Paul] will be, in the not-too-distant future, running for political office. And you have my complete and total endorsement.”

The appearance marks a significant alignment between the former president and the controversial influencer. Paul, who rose to fame on YouTube, has in recent years pivoted to a career in professional boxing and mixed martial arts. His public profile has been marred by legal controversies. In 2020, the FBI raided his California home as part of an investigation into a looted Arizona mall; Paul was never charged with a crime. In 2021, TikTok star Justine Paradise accused him of sexual assault, a claim he has denied.

Analysts note that Trump’s embrace of Paul represents a continued effort to consolidate support among populist and culture-war figures, while also testing the viability of celebrity-driven political alliances. For Paul, the association with a major political figure like Trump provides a mainstream platform that extends beyond his existing fanbase, potentially laying groundwork for an electoral run. The event underscores the increasingly porous boundary between social media influence and traditional political power in the United States, signaling that future campaigns may increasingly intersect with the influencer world.
