Gunmen set fire to the country home of Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the state House of Assembly, Ifeanyi Ozoemena, on Tuesday in the Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State. Metro gathered that the attackers also burned a house belonging to Ozoemena’s father during the assault, which occurred around 2 p.m.
The politician, who confirmed the arson to our correspondent, said the gunmen operated unchallenged and destroyed property worth millions of naira. “My house and that of my father at Umuokparaoha village in Umulolo community in the Okigwe Local Government Area were razed on Tuesday. They struck around 2 p.m., set the houses on fire and supervised the burning. The two houses and the properties were destroyed in the attack. They operated unchallenged. I am distraught. This is unfortunate,” Ozoemena said.
He called on the Commissioner of Police to intervene, adding that he was grateful no lives were lost because his aged parents were not present when the attack took place.
