BREAKING: ICPC returns El-Rufai to custody

Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, member of the House of Representatives for the Kaduna North Federal Constituency, has publicly reaffirmed his backing for his father, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, following a recent court session in Kaduna.

Speaking outside the Kaduna State High Court, the lawmaker confirmed that proceedings regarding the former governor’s legal case were adjourned to April 14, 2026. Bello El-Rufai emphasized that the family and political associates remain united throughout the judicial process. “We continue to stand with Mallam in solidarity,” he said.

The legislator also highlighted his father’s administrative background, referencing past roles at the Bureau of Public Enterprises, the Federal Capital Territory Administration, and his tenure as state governor. “We are proud of his administrative excellence and his public service record from his days in the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Ministry of Federal Capital Territory and as the father of Modern Kaduna,” he stated.

Addressing broader national concerns, Bello El-Rufai offered condolences to communities affected by recent violence in Jos and Maiduguri. “I used the opportunity to commiserate with our brothers and sisters that were tragically killed in Jos and Maiduguri. May Almighty God bless their souls,” he added. He urged federal and state officials to prioritize public safety and economic stability. “And may He guide we leaders to focus on what really matters, the safety and socio-economic development of our citizens,” he noted.

Nasir El-Rufai served as Kaduna State governor from 2015 to 2023, a period characterized by targeted infrastructural and administrative initiatives. Bello El-Rufai, elected to represent the constituency in 2023, has maintained active legislative duties while navigating the ongoing legal developments surrounding his father.

The High Court proceedings will resume next April, with legal teams preparing for subsequent hearings. As the judicial process advances, the statements from the Kaduna North representative underscore the continued political alignment within the El-Rufai family and reflect ongoing public discussions regarding governance, legal procedures, and regional stability in Nigeria.
