Lagos, Nigeria — The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced that 41 vessels are scheduled to arrive at Lagos ports between April 8 and April 14, carrying a mix of petroleum products, food items, and other essential goods.
According to the NPA’s Daily Shipping Position, obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria, 24 of the incoming ships will transport containers loaded with various commodities. The remaining 17 vessels are expected to berth with bulk sugar, fresh fish, salt, general cargo, gypsum, aviation fuel, diesel, naphtha, gasoline, gas oil, and wheat.
The authority also reported that 16 ships and tankers have already arrived and are awaiting berthing at the three main ports in Lagos. These vessels are carrying general cargo, wheat, diesel, aviation fuel, petrol, gasoline, blend stock, containers, crude oil, fertilizer, and fresh fish.
In addition, 21 ships are currently discharging urea, containers, base oil, fresh fish, soya beans, gas, and fertilizer at Lekki Deep Sea Port, Apapa, and Tincan Island Port.
The influx of vessels underscores the continued importance of Lagos ports as a key gateway for imports into Nigeria, particularly for fuel and food supplies. The NPA’s shipping bulletin provides regular updates to stakeholders and the public on port activity, helping to manage expectations and coordinate logistics in one of Africa’s busiest maritime hubs.
