Cowboys Safety Markquese Bell Arrested on Drug Charges in Texas

Dallas Cowboys safety Markquese Bell was arrested Friday in Prosper, Texas, on drug-related charges, according to Collin County records. Bell faces a felony count of possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession. Authorities have not disclosed details about the circumstances leading to the arrest.

Bell joined the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2022 following a turbulent college career. Originally a highly touted recruit, he enrolled at the University of Maryland but was suspended and left the program without playing a game. He later transferred to Coffeyville Community College before finishing his collegiate career at Florida A&M.

In his second NFL season, Bell appeared in all 17 games for Dallas, contributing on defense for 32 percent of the team’s snaps and on special teams for 63 percent. The arrest could impact his standing with the team as the Cowboys prepare for the upcoming season.

The NFL has not yet commented on whether the league will investigate the matter under its personal conduct policy. Bell’s legal proceedings and any potential disciplinary action remain pending.
